HE'S GOING TO DO A BRIEF REINTRODUCTION OF WHAT HE TALKED ABOUT AND THEN WE'LL MOVE ON WITH THE MEETING. MR. SCOTT.

THANK YOU. SO FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO COULDN'T READ MY LIPS, WE'RE WE'RE HERE TODAY TO DO A REALLY AN INTRODUCTORY MEETING ON A SIGNIFICANT PROJECT THAT THE CITY'S BEEN EXCITED ABOUT NOW FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS.

THE OLD INDIO FASHION MALL SITE AND THE HAGEN COMPANY, ALEX HAGEN HAS COME TO US SOME TIME AGO NOW AND TOLD US THAT HE WAS INTERESTED IN TAKING THIS ON AND SEEING IF HE COULD DO SOMETHING POSITIVE FOR THE INDIO COMMUNITY.

AND WE'RE APPRECIATIVE OF THAT OPPORTUNITY.

WHAT WE'RE DOING TODAY IS REALLY AN INTRODUCTORY MEETING FOR BOTH THE CITY COUNCIL AND THE PLANNING COMMISSION.

IT IS INFORMATIONAL ONLY.

THIS IS NOT A PUBLIC HEARING.

IT IS NOT A DECISION MEETING WHERE ANYBODY'S GOING TO MAKE ANY KIND OF DECISIONS.

IT'S JUST A MEETING WHERE WE'RE RECEIVING INFORMATION AND PERHAPS PROVIDING EARLY INITIAL THOUGHTS ABOUT ABOUT WHAT WE SEE IN THE PROJECT THAT THAT WE'D LIKE TO SHARE WITH THE APPLICANT. SO THE FIRST REASON FOR DOING A MEETING LIKE THIS IS TO TO GIVE EVERYONE A CHANCE TO BE INTRODUCED TO THE PROJECT.

THE SECOND REASON FOR DOING IT IS THAT THERE'S TWO ASPECTS OF THIS PROJECT.

ONE IS THE TYPICAL DEVELOPMENT APPLICATION AND THE OTHER IS THERE'S A REAL ESTATE DEAL BECAUSE THE CITY IS THE OWNER OF MOST OF THE SOUTHERN 20 ACRES OF THIS PROJECT SITE.

SO THE CITY COUNCIL HAS, FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS BEEN WORKING AT TIMES IN CLOSED SESSION ON THE REAL ESTATE DEAL.

AND IT'S APPROPRIATE FOR US TO SHARE THAT INFORMATION AT THIS POINT, BOTH WITH THE PUBLIC AND WITH THE PLANNING COMMISSION, WHICH WOULD BE THE FIRST REVIEW BODY FOR THE PROJECT.

SO I WANTED THE PLANNING COMMISSION TO BE AWARE THAT IS THE APPLICANT STARTS GOING THROUGH THIS PROJECT. THERE'S SOME ELEMENTS HERE THAT WE HAVE BEEN ENCOURAGING OF THEM, ONE OF WHICH IS A GREEN SPACE OR A PARK AREA THAT RUNS THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE 20 ACRES ON THE SOUTHERN PART OF THE PROJECT SITE AND CONNECTS THE ADJACENT NEIGHBORHOOD OF THE JOHN NOBLES NEIGHBORHOOD SOUTH OF JOHN NOBLES AVENUE.

THAT'S A THAT'S BEEN A GOAL OF OURS ALL ALONG.

WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT THIS PROJECT DIDN'T TURN ITS BACK ON THE NEIGHBORHOOD, BUT RATHER EMBRACED IT.

AND WE'RE LOOKING FORWARD TO FURTHER PUBLIC INTEREST.

STILL ON. AND THE SO THE THAT IS AN ELEMENT OF THE PROJECT THAT WE'VE BEEN WORKING ON FROM THE BEGINNING, THERE'S A COUPLE OTHER AREAS HERE THAT WILL BE DISCUSSED AS WE GO THROUGH THE PRESENTATION WITH THE APPLICANT.

I THINK THAT'S THE GIST OF WHAT I COVERED.

AND UNLESS SOMEBODY ELSE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSING US FIRST, I THINK MR. HAGAN WANTED TO MAKE SOME INTRODUCTORY COMMENTS, IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN.

WELCOME. THANK YOU, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, PLANNING COMMISSION AND THE CITY COUNCIL.

I'M PLEASED TO BE BACK UP HERE.

I HAVEN'T BEEN HERE FOR QUITE A WHILE ALL OVER ALL THE YEARS THAT WE'VE BEEN HERE.

I SPENT A LOT OF TIME IN THIS ROOM.

I ACTUALLY CAME OUT IN 1983 AND IT WAS STILL IN THE COUNTY WHERE THE POLO CLUB IS NOW.

AND WE STARTED WORKING ON, OF COURSE, EVENTS, EQUESTRIAN EVENTS, AND EVENTUALLY MOVED INTO ADDING CORPORATE EVENTS, SPORTS EVENTS, ART SHOWS, DOG SHOWS AND ALL THE THINGS THAT WE ENDED UP DOING. AND THEN, OF COURSE, IT CAME, I THINK WAS THE EARLY 90S WHERE THE ANNEXATION CAME UP.

AND WE WERE VERY INVOLVED IN MAKING SURE THAT THE CITY ANNEXED THAT PARTICULAR AREA AND THAT WE WERE IN INDIO INSTEAD OF IN LOOKING AT THE OUR STAYING IN THE COUNTY.

AND I THINK IT WAS A WISE MOVE ON OUR PART.

AND I HOPE THAT CITY INDIO FEELS THE SAME BACK AT LATER IN THE 90S, THE CITY ACTUALLY WAS WORKING IN UNTIL A DEAL TO TAKE OVER NOBLE'S RANCH.

IT WAS CONTENTIOUS.

AND THE MALL OWNER AT THE TIME, DAVID MILLER, GENTLEMAN ON MILLER'S OUTPOST, WANTED TO SELL. WE MADE A DEAL AT THAT PARTICULAR TIME TO GO AHEAD AND PURCHASE THE MALL.

UNFORTUNATELY, THERE WAS SOME POLITICS THAT GOT IN THE WAY.

THERE WAS AN ELECTION AND THE CITY BASICALLY DECIDED NOT TO GO AHEAD AND WORK WITH US.

AND SO WE PULLED OUT AND THAT WAS ABOUT 35 YEARS AGO.

IT WAS UNFORTUNATE BECAUSE AT THAT TIME WE HAD GREAT TENANTS THAT ENDED UP BEING IN LA QUINTA THEY ENDED UP BEING ON 111 AT COSTCO, ROSS DRESS FOR LESS, MARSHALLS, ALL OF THE BIG BOX TENANTS THAT COULD HAVE GONE IN A BUNCH OF THEM IN THAT AREA.

AND SO IT WAS KIND OF SAD TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED BECAUSE AFTER THAT TIME, THE MALL ITSELF WENT ON A DOWNWARD SPIRAL.

EVENTUALLY WE WERE ASKED TO LOOK AT IT BY THE CITY AND WE GOT IN AND DID SEVERAL YEARS AGO. I THINK ABOUT WHAT, CHRIS, THREE, ABOUT THREE YEARS AGO AND PURCHASED THE MALL AND IT WAS IN DIRE NEED OF ANY KIND OF HELP, EVEN JUST CLEANING THINGS UP, GETTING THE PUBLIC RESTROOMS TO WORK, GETTING LIGHT BULBS TO WORK, TURNING WATER BACK ON.

AND SO WE'VE DONE SOMETHING THERE JUST TO KIND OF CLEAN IT UP AND GET IT UP TO THIS PARTICULAR POINT. AT THAT TIME, WE STARTED TALKING AND WORKING WITH THE CITY RELATIVE TO WHAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO SEE AND WHAT WE THOUGHT WE COULD DO RELATIVE TO PUTTING A REALLY FINE SHOPPING AREA BACK IN INDIO, WE REALIZED THAT WE'D HAVE TO SPECIALIZE IT AND DESIGN IT IN A SPECIAL WAY BECAUSE YOU CAN'T GO AHEAD AND PUT EVEN AT THAT TIME, WE KNEW A BIG BRICKS AND MORTAR FASHION TYPE OF A MALL AND THEY JUST DON'T AREN'T WORKING.

I THINK ALL OF THEM ARE IN TROUBLE.

AND SO WE TRIED TO GO AHEAD AND GET CREATIVE WITH OUR TEAM OF COMING UP WITH SOMETHING SPECIAL. AT THAT TIME, WE STARTED OFF WITH A FORTY ACRE, MUCH LARGER RETAIL MALL.

AND WE ALSO WE'RE WORKING WITH A THEATER WHILE THE WORLD CHANGED, AS YOU ALL KNOW.

AND SO WE REALLY HAD TO REDO OUR CONCEPT AND OUR THINKING.

AND WE'VE DONE SOMETHING NOW THAT WE THINK IS VERY EXCITING AND IT WILL REALLY MEET THE NEEDS OF INDIO, SOMETHING THAT THEY THE PEOPLE WOULD BE PROUD OF, SOMETHING THAT THE PEOPLE OF INDIO COULD USE.

AND THIS NEIGHBORHOOD FRIENDLY, FAMILY FRIENDLY AND KID FRIENDLY.

AND SO WE'VE KIND OF DESIGNED IT TO MEET THE NEEDS OF WHAT WE HAVE, EVEN DOWN TO A THING OF PUTTING SOME LARGE SCREENS IN THERE THAT WOULD LIVE STREAM.

SO EVEN WHEN CONCERTS ARE GOING ON OR A DOG SHOW OR A HORSE SHOW OR MAYBE WORLD SOCCER, THAT WE COULD ACTUALLY HAVE SOMETHING IN THAT ELEMENT TO GO AHEAD AND AND SERVICE THE PEOPLE AND MAKE IT A FUN PLACE TO GO TO, BECAUSE, AGAIN, WE ARE IN COMPETITION WITH OTHER MALLS AND OTHER SHOPPING AREAS UP AND DOWN THE VALLEY, AND OUR PEOPLE ARE EXCELLENT AT GOING AHEAD AND DESIGNING THINGS TO GO AHEAD AND MEET THE NEEDS OF THE PEOPLE.

IF YOU DON'T MEET THEIR NEEDS, THEY WON'T GO THERE.

SO WE'VE DONE, I THINK, AN EXCELLENT JOB THERE AND CHANGING THE DYNAMICS WORKING.

AND SO WE HAVE SOME RESIDENTIAL THAT WE HAVE SOME MULTIFAMILY WITH HOPEFULLY SOME HOTEL, MOTEL OR HOTEL TYPE OF OPERATIONS THAT WOULD BRING MORE PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY WE DO THE BIG CONCERTS AND THINGS THAT WOULD BRING THEM INTO DOWNTOWN INDIO AND AND THINGS THAT WOULD BASICALLY SUPPORT THE DOWNTOWN CORE.

WE KNOW IT'S BEEN YEARS AND AND WE'RE EXCITED BECAUSE THE CITY HAS FINALLY TURNED AROUND AND GOT DOWNTOWN TO COME BACK ALIVE WITH NEW HOUSING GOING IN THERE WITH THE COLLEGE OF THE DESERT, WITH THE HOSPITAL, ALL THE THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING.

BUT REALLY, 111 IS THE ENTRY WAY TO DOWNTOWN.

AND TO GET SOMETHING THERE THAT WOULD BE EXCITING AND DYNAMIC AND PULL PEOPLE IN, WE THINK WOULD GO A LONG WAY TO NOT JUST IMPROVING THE ENTIRE 111 CORRIDOR IN IN IN INDIO, BUT IT WOULD FEED RIGHT INTO THE DOWNTOWN AREA AND MAKE A MAJOR, MAJOR DIFFERENCE AND BRING PEOPLE THAT OTHERWISE MIGHT NOT COME TO INDIO TENANTS THEN WOULD FEEL COMFORTABLE, THEY WOULD BE EXCITED ABOUT TAKING THEIR BUSINESS AND COMING TO INDIO, SO WITH ALL THAT IN MIND, WE'VE PUT TOGETHER, LIKE I SAY WITH OUR TEAM, I THINK A GREAT DESIGN AND CONCEPT WITH ALL OF THESE ELEMENTS INVOLVED.

AND NOW REALLY WE JUST NEED THE CITY, THE PLANNING COMMISSION, THE CITY COUNCIL TO GO AHEAD AND LET US KNOW THAT WE'RE ON THE RIGHT TRACK.

MALLS AND SHOPPING CENTERS, AS YOU CAN IMAGINE IN THIS PANDEMIC ERA, ARE NOT EASY TO PUT TOGETHER. AND EVEN BEFORE THAT HAPPENED, THEY'RE VERY DIFFICULT RIGHT NOW.

IT'S MORE DIFFICULT BECAUSE TENANTS ACROSS THE BOARD HAVE EITHER GOTTEN IN TROUBLE AND EITHER DOWNSIZED OR GONE OUT OF BUSINESS ALTOGETHER.

NOW, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? THAT MEANS THAT WHEN I GO TO SHOW A SPACE TO A TENANT, HE HAS OPTIONS.

HE CAN GO DOWN THE STREET A MILE AWAY, GOING TO LA QUINTA, GOING TO PALM DESERT, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE AND GO AHEAD AND TAKE OVER A SPACE THAT'S ALREADY BUILT OUT AND THAT THE LANDLORD PROBABLY WILL MAKE HIM A HELL OF A DEAL, MIGHT LESS AND PROBABLY THE COST OF US BUILDING A NEW PLACE TO PUT HIM IN THE EMPTY SPACE BECAUSE SO MUCH EMPTY SPACE OUT THERE.

IT'S A BUYER'S MARKET.

SO WE HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL HOW WE PUT THIS TOGETHER AND WE STRUCTURE IT AND WE NEED THE FULL SUPPORT OF THE CITY BEFORE REALLY I'M WILLING TO GO AHEAD AND PUT OUR FAMILY'S MONEY IN TO DO A MAJOR PROJECT LIKE THIS, BECAUSE WE'RE TALKING ABOUT MANY, MANY, MANY MILLIONS OF DOLLARS AT RISK.

AND SO THAT WAS AN EXCELLENT THING ABOUT STARTING NOW EARLY ON WITH A CITY, WITH A PLANNING COMMISSION, THE CITY COUNCIL, TO MAKE SURE WE'RE ON THE RIGHT TRACK.

WE'RE GOING AHEAD WITH ONE WITH THE THEATER AND THOSE THINGS THAT WE MADE A QUICK U-TURN AND STOPPED WHEN WE SAW WHAT WAS HAPPENING.

WE COULDN'T DEAL WITH REGAL.

AND RIGHT NOW IT WOULDN'T MATTER BECAUSE THAT BUSINESS IS OUT OF BUSINESS AND PEOPLE ARE ARE IN TROUBLE THAT HAVE THEATERS IN THEIR PROPERTIES.

THEY'RE JUST THEY'RE NOT PAYING THE RENT.

THEY'RE NOT DOING BUSINESS. AND IT'S A PROBLEM.

SO WE DID A U-TURN.

WE WENT AHEAD AND WE STARTED THIS NEW PLANNING PROCESS THAT WE'RE DOING.

BUT AGAIN, WE NEED TO KNOW IN EARLY ON THAT IT'S SOMETHING THAT CITY LIKES, THAT THEY SUPPORT AND THAT THEY'RE BEHIND US ON.

AND AGAIN, I DON'T WANT MY PEOPLE OR OUR COMPANY TO GO AHEAD AND GET IN AND DO SOMETHING.

IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, YOU DON'T WANT IT.

BUT WE NEED TO KNOW THAT WHAT WE'RE DOING IS SOMETHING THAT'S SUPPORTED BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY COUNCIL AND EARLY ON, BECAUSE AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, EVEN DOING THESE PLANS AND HIRING ALL THE ENGINEERS AND ALL THE ARCHITECTS IS NOT AN INEXPENSIVE ELEMENT.

WE'VE PUT A LOT OF RISK CAPITAL UP EVEN TO BRING THIS TO YOU.

AND WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT IT, WE THINK.

AND THE PEOPLE WE'VE TALKED TO IN THE CITY SEEM TO BE EXCITED ABOUT IT ALSO.

BUT WE REALLY NEED TO MAKE SURE BECAUSE, LIKE I SAY, THERE'S A LOT OF CAPITAL RISK, THERE'S A LOT OF TIME, AND THAT GOES INTO IT.

AND ALSO WE NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT WE GET ALL OF THE OTHER ELEMENTS THAT WE NEED TO KNOW THAT WE ARE ABLE TO GET THE TENANTS WITHOUT THE TENANTS.

IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU HAVE AS A SHOPPING CENTER.

WE HAVE TO MAKE SURE THAT THE LENDER IS SATISFIED AND COMFORTABLE THAT THEY WILL LEND MONEY TO GO AHEAD AND BUILD SOMETHING OUT LIKE THIS.

THERE ARE SOME ELEMENTS THAT ARE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.

AND IF IT'S SOMETHING THE CITY ISN'T FULLY BEHIND IT.

EXCITED AGAIN, I PERSONALLY NEED TO KNOW SOON BECAUSE WE CAN GO AHEAD AND GO TO OUR PLAN B OR C OR WHATEVER WE HAVE PLANNED.

SO SOMETHING DID GO SIDEWAYS.

YOU KNOW, WE COULD DROP BACK TO REALLY CLEANING UP, MAKING IT VERY NICE, PAINTING IT, CLEANING IT, PUTTING A NEW FRONT ON IT, REDOING THE INSIDE AND LEAVING THE MALL.

WE BELIEVE WE'VE FOCUSED THE MAIN ACTIVITY OF THE MALL NOW TO THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE MALL RATHER THAN THE HIGHWAY 111 SIDE.

NORMAL DESIGN WOULD LEAD YOU TO HAVE YOUR FOCAL ACTIVITY ON YOUR MAIN STREET, WHICH IS HIGHWAY 111. BUT THE CONFIGURATION OF THIS PROJECT IS SO SHALLOW THAT THE BUILDINGS ARE SO SHALLOW TO ONE 11 THAT WE JUST DON'T HAVE THE GEOGRAPHY ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE MALL TO CREATE THE ACTIVITY THAT WE'RE TRYING TO CREATE HERE.

WE ACTUALLY CAME UP WITH THE ARCHITECTURAL ELEMENTS OF THE DESIGN OF THIS ENTRY, LOOKING AT IT FIRST. AND IT WAS JUST A LITTLE FLAT TO US AND THAT'S WHEN WE CAME THROUGH THE THOUGHT OF COLOR. SO THIS IS THIS IS ONE OF THE GOING TO BE OUR BIG DESIGN THEME THAT'S GOING TO BE GOING THROUGHOUT THE PROJECT INSIDE AND OUTSIDE.

AND THIS GIVES YOU THE LOOK AT THE AND THIS IS THE MAIN ENTRANCE FROM 111 THAT EXISTS TODAY. TODAY, THERE IS A BIG ROUND KIND OF AIRPLANE HANGAR, KIND OF OLD AIRPLANE HANGAR TYPE OF LOOKING OF ENTRANCE.

WE'VE TAKEN THAT OUT.

WE'VE BROUGHT GLASS IN FROM ALL THE SIDES TO JUST ILLUMINATE THE ENTIRE AREA.

IN 1998, I WAS PRESIDENT OF THE NAACP IN NINETEEN EIGHTY EIGHT WHEN.

PASTOR CAROLYN TYLER WAS THE PASTOR OF FIRST ARMY IN THE CITY, APPROACHED HER ABOUT A HOME IMPROVEMENT PROJECT THAT ULTIMATELY TURNED INTO AN INTIMATE DOMAIN.

THE MERE MENTION OF A DOLLAR.

RENTAL AGREEMENT, I DON'T KNOW HOW THAT'S RELEVANT, BUT THAT CAME ABOUT BECAUSE THE CITY FILED INTIMATE DOMAIN AND AS A RESULT OF EMINENT DOMAIN, EARLENE OLIVER, REPRESENTING HOMEOWNERS WITH THE HELP OF THE NAACP LEGAL DEFENSE FUND, FILED A LAWSUIT AGAINST THE CITY OF INDIO. AND IN 1993, THEY CAME TO AN AGREEMENT.

NAACP [INAUDIBLE] REPRESENTING EARLY [INAUDIBLE] AND HOMEOWNERS WHO DID NOT WANT TO SALE, AGREE IN PRINCIPLE.

AND A CONSENT DECREE WAS SIGNED BY THE NAACP ON BEHALF OF EARLENE OLIVER AND THE CITY OF INDIO TO RELOCATE THE HOMEOWNERS, BUSINESSES AND CHURCHES.

IN 1993, THE CITY OF INDIO CHOSE TO.

NOT FULFILLED ITS OBLIGATION, AND IN BUILDING THE CHURCHES, WE WERE LEFT ON OUR OWN, TOLD TO, IF WE DIDN'T LIKE IT, RESEW THAT CAME ABOUT IN EARLY.

2020 ONTO THE CITY MANAGER GLENN SELLER GAVE US THE TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT OFFER BECAUSE THE CITY OF INDIO WALKED AWAY FROM A CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT.

AND SO WE THEN WERE FORCED INTO TAKING MONEY TO BUILD CHURCHES THAT WE WEREN'T PREPARED TO BUILD. AND I'LL MAKE AN EXCUSE.

ONLY ONE OR TWO CHURCHES HAVE BEEN REBUILT.

I OFFERED.

WELL, I SUGGEST IT AND IN MY NEGOTIATION ON THE BUYOUT OR THE SALE OF THE CURRENT BUILDING, THAT WE OCCUPY A PART OF THE AGREEMENT AND NO ONE NOT.

AND WE NEVER IMAGINED STILL BEING HERE SINCE FOR TWENTY YEARS, TWENTY FIVE YEARS, THAT I NEVER IMAGINED THAT THAT DOLLAR WOULD LOOM.

SO LARGELY BECAUSE HAD NOT, I ASKED FOR THAT RENTAL AGREEMENT, PART OF THE SALE OF WE WOULD BE IN A WORSE SHAPE THAN WE'RE IN RIGHT NOW.

AND SO AFTER A GENOCIDE THAT TOOK PLACE 30 YEARS AGO AND THE PEOPLE, THE WONDERFUL PEOPLE THAT LIVED HERE, THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE, AFRICAN-AMERICANS, PREDOMINANTLY LIVED IN THIS AREA, HOMEOWNERS, BUSINESS OWNERS WOULD DISPLACE DISCOMBOBULATED A VOTING BLOCK OF PEOPLE WERE ERADICATED.

IT'S A BEAUTIFUL COMPLEX THAT YOU'RE PROPOSING, BUT THAT SAME COMPLEX AND IN PRINCIPLE WAS OFFERED 30 YEARS AGO AND ONLY THING WE HAVE LEFT TO SHOW FOR IT IS A NON COMMUNITY BLACK COMMUNITY THAT'S THAT'S DISPERSED GENOCIDE.

THE PEOPLE, HUMAN BEINGS, LESTER AND GENEVIEVE, WHILE THEY WERE THE PASTOR OF THIS CHURCH

WHO ALLOWED ME TO COME IN AND TAKE OVER AND PURCHASE THIS BUILDING FROM THE ORGANIZATION, I OWE EVERYTHING TO THEM, THE WONDERFUL PEOPLE.

SO WE'RE HOLDING ON AND WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO TO KEEP OUR FAITH IN THE LORD.

WE KNOW THAT TIME IS RUNNING OUT HERE.

I WAS NEVER MY INTENTION TO BE HERE.

AND AGAIN, I THINK THAT THE HOMEOWNERS OF THE COMMUNITY THAT WAS DISPLACED NEED TO BE ACKNOWLEDGED. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED AT THE COUNCIL MEMBER THAT REPRESENTS THIS DISTRICT HAVE SUCH A NEGATIVE ATTITUDE ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF THIS BUILDING BEING USED AS A HISTORICAL MUSEUM AND A COMMUNITY CENTER.

I HAVE SURVEYED I DID A SURVEY OF THIS COMMUNITY AND TOOK DOWN.

GOTTEN WRITTEN SIGNATURES FROM THE RESIDENTS REGARDING THIS BUILDING AND KEEPING THIS BUILDING FOR OUR COMMUNITY LOCATION FOR COMMUNITY CENTER, CHILD CARE AND THINGS OF THAT NATURE. I'M NOT HERE TO OPPOSE THIS PROJECT.

I'M HERE TO MAKE YOU APPEAL TO YOU ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF NOT FORGETTING THIS COMMUNITY AND FORGETTING WHAT HAPPENED.

TO SEE THE VIDEO COLLECTED EIGHT MILLION DOLLARS FROM MILLER'S OUTPOST IN 1995 AFTER SIGNING AN AGREEMENT TO RELOCATE OUR CHURCHES, POCKETED THE MONEY AND REFUSED TO BUILD THE CHURCHES THEY AGREED TO BUILD.

AND SO, AGAIN, I DIDN'T I DON'T WANT TO RAIN ON THIS PARADE BECAUSE IT IS A BEAUTIFUL COMPLEX. BUT WE'VE BEEN SHOWN COMPLEXES BEFORE AND NOTHING EVER CAME OUT OF HERE AND THEN DEFINITELY NEVER BENEFITED OUR COMMUNITY.

SO I WOULD HOPE, MR. HAGAN, THAT WE CAN SIT DOWN TOGETHER AND WE CAN TALK AND WE CAN WORK OUT SOMETHING THAT WOULD BE BENEFICIAL TO THE PEOPLE WHO WERE DISPLACED.
