I UNDERSTAND IT'S BEEN QUITE A WHILE IF EVER SINCE THE DISTRICT HAS COME AND PRESENTED.

I'M GLAD TO COME AND UPDATE EVERYONE WHAT OUR SPECIAL DISTRICT IS DOING WHICH DOES SERVE THE RESIDENTS OF INDIO.

JUST A LITTLE BIT OF BACKGROUND.

WE HAVE A PRESENTATION.

LITTLE BIT OF THE BACKGROUND.

IT'S A INDEPENDENT SPECIAL DISTRICT IN 1927.

IT'S BEEN AROUND FOR LONG TIME.

IT'S ONE OF THE LARGER CEMETERY DISTRICTS IN CALIFORNIA.

IT'S LARGER THAN ANY OTHER DISTRICTS COMBINED.

THE DISTRICT IS QUITE LARGE.

OUR BOUNDARIES INCLUDE ROUGHLY FROM RANCHO MIRAGE ON OUT TO DESERT CENTER.

UNFORTUNATELY THE CEMETERIES BEEN VERY BUSY.

ONE MORE STARK REMINDER OF THE PANDEMIC WE ARE IN.

NORMALLY WE DO ABOUT 350 INTERMENT SERVICES A YEAR.

WE DID ALMOST 600 LAST YEAR.

QUITE A SPIKE IN THE AMOUNT OF ACTIVITY AT THE DISTRICT.

HANDLING THAT OF COURSE AS BEST WE CAN.

THEIR LEADERSHIP HAS BEEN VERY IMPORTANT AS WE'VE GONE THROUGH THE PANDEMIC AND ALSO MADE SO THE NECESSARY OPERATIONAL CHANGES IN STRUCTURAL CHANGES WE'VE MADE TO GET TO WHERE WE ARE AT.

I HAVE 3 OF THEM WITH ME TODAY.

VICE CHAIR OF OSTLER, CHESLEY CORNELL AND DOCTOR BRUCE UNDERWENT.

OUR CHAIRMAN ANOTHER TRUSTEE JOHN RIOS WERE NOT PRESENT BUT PART OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES.

AS FAR AS BUDGET GOES.

WE GAVE HIM THE 2021 €" 22 BUDGET BOOK TO THE COUNCILMEMBERS TO REVIEW.

MOST OF THE NUMBERS ARE IN.

QUICKLY OUR FINANCIALS ARE VERY STRONG.

WE HAVE ABOUT $14 MILLION WHEN YOU COMBINE OUR INVESTMENTS, OVER OUR PORTFOLIO.

REBEL TO SUSTAIN OPERATIONS IN A VERY HEALTHY CLICK AND RESERVES IN OUR ENDOWMENT FUND IS GOOD AS WELL.

RIGHT NOW RUNNING AND OPERATING BUDGET FOR THIS YEAR AND $3.1 MILLION.

A LOT OF THAT IS INVESTMENT INTO INFRASTRUCTURE, EQUIPMENT TO MAKE OUR OPERATIONS MORE EFFICIENT AND BETTER SERVE THE PUBLIC.

THE VERY PROPORTION OF THIS YEAR WE RECEIVED OVER LITTLE HUNDRED $10,000 OF FUNDING THROUGH GRANTS AND FUNDING THROUGH THE STATE.

WERE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF OUTSIDE MONDAY WHEREVER WE CAN TO ACCOMPLISH THE WORK WE'RE DOING.

SOME OF THE CHANGES WERE DOING, SOME OF THE CAPITAL INVESTMENTS.

WERE INVESTING A LOT IN INFRASTRUCTURE AND REFOCUSING ON THE SERVICES WE PROVIDE BUT ALSO FOCUSING ON TRYING TO BECOME MORE EFFICIENT.

ESPECIALLY AS IT RELATES TO LONG-TERM EXPENSES.

SOME OF THE THINGS WE INVESTED IN OUR NEW PORTABLE CHAPELS FOR OUR GRAVESIDE SERVICES FOR OUR FAMILIES.

WE ALSO INTERESTED IN LOWERING KITS WHICH IS ONE OF THE IMAGES YOU SEE THERE.

ALLOWS US TO LOWER THE CASKETS AUTOMATED INSTEAD OF HAVING TO DO IT BY HAND WHICH IS QUITE AN IMPROVEMENT BOTH FOR THE FAMILY SERVICES IN THE OPERATIONAL WAY.

WE'VE INVESTED IN A NEW BOARDROOM.

PUT A LOT OF MONEY INTO THE AV SYSTEM THAT WE MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC CAN JOIN OUR BOARD OF TRUSTEE MEETINGS AND VIEW THEM SEAMLESSLY.

IT SETS US UP IN CASE WE HAVE ANY OTHER ISSUES WITH THE PANDEMIC AS WELL.

THAT'S BEEN A NICE IMPROVEMENT FOR STOL.

WE'VE INVESTED IN OUR CRN SYSTEM OUR INTERNAL IC SYSTEMS. IT'LL COME UP A LITTLE LATER.

REVENUE WEBSITE THAT'S READY TO LAUNCH AT THE END OF THE MONTH AS WELL.

IT'S BEEN A BUSY 8 MONTHS FOR SO FAR.

SIMILAR CEMETERY INVESTMENTS.

WE'VE PUT A LITTLE OVER HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS OF OUR AUTOMATED IRRIGATION SYSTEM.

IT SOUNDS LIKE A SMALL THING.

IT'S NICE FOR US.

WE WENT TO AN IRRIGATION BY HAND FOR THE LAST 90 SOMETHING YEARS WHICH MEANS IRRIGATION GETS DONE WHILE THE FAMILIES ARE VISITING THE GROUNDS.

THIS WILL ALLOW US TO DO IT AT NIGHT SO WE DON'T HAVE ANY INTERRUPTION TO THOSE VISITATIONS ANYMORE.

WE'VE INVESTED OVER HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS IN SECURITY AS WELL.

IF CAMERAS IN.

REV SECURITY SERVICES THAT CREATE MORE OF A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR FAMILIES WHILE THEY ARE THERE.

WE INVESTED INTO SOME THINGS BUT THE PUBLIC DOESN'T ALWAYS READILY SEE.

ONE OF THE IMAGES YOU SEE IS OF DOUBLE DIP VAULTS WHICH ALLOWS US TO BURY 2 PEOPLE INTO ONE SITE.

THE WAY THAT IT SET UP IS THERE IN ADVANCE SO IT'S LESS WORK FOR US WHEN WE COME BACK TO DO THE SECOND SERVICE WHICH TRANSLATES TO LOWER FEES AND LESS FINANCIAL OUTPUT BY THE DISTRICT AND FOR OUR COMMUNITY.

WE HAVE LANDSCAPING ADDITIONS THAT ARE COMING AS WELL.

ONE OF THE NEW THINGS ABOUT THE WEBSITE AND ALLOW FOR E-COMMERCE WHICH IS AN IMPORTANT THING FOR US.

THE PANDEMIC WE HAD TO SIT ON SOME OF OUR OPERATIONS FOR WE CANNOT STAND IN FRONT OF THE FOLKS TOOK TO CONDUCT BUSINESS.

WILL BE ABLE TO DO IT THROUGH ZOOM MEETINGS AND CONDUCT TRANSACTIONS WITHOUT PEOPLE HAVING TO COME TO US.

I THINK DURING THE CURRENT CONDITIONS WILL BE IMPORTANT TO US.

WE CONTINUE THOSE OPERATIONS AS BEST WE CAN.

AS FAR AS FUTURE PLANS.

REGULAR DISTRICT HAS ABOUT 30 ACRES OF DEVELOPED PROPERTY.

I'VE ROUGHLY ANOTHER 30 ACRES AVAILABLE.

RIGHT NOW OUR CURRENT PACE WE BELIEVE WE WILL BE ABLE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE PUBLIC FOR AT LEAST THE NEXT CLOSE TO 50 YEARS.

THAT PHASE 2 DEVELOPMENT WHICH YOU SEE OUTLINED IN RED WILL PROBABLY BEGIN I WOULD SAY IN THE NEXT 2 TO 3 YEARS.

BEFORE MORE SECTION THAT'S NOT OPEN WERE IN THE PROCESS OF OPENING.

SO THIS NEW CAPACITY AFTER THE SITES ARE REZONED WILL PROVIDE AN ADDITIONAL CAPACITY OF 3160 LOWER INCOME UNITS.

IN 947 MODERATE INCOME UNITS.

ONCE WE FACTOR IN THE QUALIFY SITES FOR THE REZONED YOU END UP WITH A VERY GENEROUS BUFFER.

OF 874 LOWER INCOME UNITS AND 293 MODERATE INCOME UNITS.

IN A WAY THE CITY IS ALREADY AHEAD OF THE CYCLE.

WE WOULD HAVE TO GO BACK TO THE DAYS OF 2003, 4, 5 AND 6 OF THIS COMMUNITY TO START REALLY MAKING PROGRESS TOWARDS THE 7812.

WHILE THERE CERTAINLY HOUSING NEED IT IS IN LARGE PART GOING TO BE HOW QUICKLY THE MARKET RESPONDS.

WHAT I FOUND OUT IS THAT PALM SPRINGS FOR INSTANCE IS OFFERING A $30,000 PER HEAD BONUS IF YOU WANT TO APPLY TO BECOME A POLICE OFFICER.
