I HOPE EVERYONE IS DOING WELL OUT THERE.

I HOPE EVERYBODY HAD A CHANCE TO VISIT THE SOUTHWEST ARTS FESTIVAL THAT HAPPENED AT THE END OF LAST MONTH. IT WAS A REALLY FUN, BEAUTIFUL EVENT, BEAUTIFUL WEATHER, LOTS OF PEOPLE FROM OUR CITY THERE.

I KNOW THE INDIO PERFORMING ARTS CENTER AND WE HAD A BOOTH THERE AND LOTS OF PEOPLE STOPPED BY AND WE ARE VERY INTERESTED IN THE NEW THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING HERE IN THE CITY. WITH THAT I WANT TO REMIND EVERYBODY THAT IF YOU ARE DOWN AT THE FARMER'S MARKET ON SUNDAY, THERE IS STAFF THERE FROM 9 TO 2:30.

IF YOU BUY VEGETABLES AND THINGS AND YOU WANT TO STORE THEM WHILE YOU CONTINUE TO WALK AROUND, STOP BY THE I PACK AND THEY WILL STORE THEM IN THE WALK IN REFRIGERATORS AND YOU CAN PICK THEM UP BEFORE 2:30.

ALSO, THE SECOND SATURDAYS I HOPE EVERYBODY IS COMING OUT TO ENJOY THOSE EVENTS.

IT WAS A GREAT EVENT.

THE MORE THE COACHELLA VALLEY IS NOT ONLY GOING WITH THE PEOPLE AROUND, BUT THE DIFFERENT EVENTS. IT IS AT A DIFFERENT LEVEL.

YOU CAN SEE THE GROWTH IN THE COACHELLA VALLEY WHICH IS GREAT AND MAKES US PART OF THE COMMUNITY HERE. THANK YOU.

THANK YOU FOR HAVING ME AND GIVING THIS OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE A RECAP ON THE TAMALE FESTIVAL. IN SHORT WE HAD AN INCREDIBLE TIME PRODUCING THIS WITH THE CITY AND THE COMMUNITY AND WE ARE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY NEXT YEAR AND COMMITTED TO PRODUCE A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE.

WE LEARNED A LOT OF THINGS FROM THIS TIME AROUND.

WE HAD A REALLY SHORT RUNWAY TO GET IT TOGETHER.

WE ARE MOST EXCITED ABOUT A FULL YEAR.

AND THAT IS SOMETHING THAT I WOULD LIKE TO TALK ABOUT BETWEEN OURSELVES AND HOW WE WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE AND GET MORE COMMUNITY INPUT IN THE PROGRAMMING AND THE DESIGN OF THE FESTIVAL. IF THE VIDEO WORKS BY CHANCE, THAT WOULD BE HELPFUL.

WE DID PUT A LITTLE RECAP TOGETHER TO REMIND FOLKS ABOUT -- LET'S SEE.

WE ARE HAPPY WITH THE OUTCOMES OF THAT.

I THINK THERE IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR BROADER INPUT AND WHAT THAT LOOKS AND FEELS LIKE IN THE FUTURE. WE ARE REALLY HAPPY WITH THE AMOUNT OF VIDEO AND PHOTOGRAPHY AND EXPERIENCE WE WERE ABLE TO CAPTURE THIS YEAR BECAUSE WE THINK THAT WILL BE A PRETTY VITAL TOOL AND INSTRUMENT FOR US TO CONTINUE TO GROW THIS INTO THE FUTURE AND HAVE AN ABILITY TO EXPRESS THE JOY THAT COMES FROM A COMMUNITY EVENT LIKE THIS.

YOU KNOW, SOME METRICS THAT TOP LINE BETWEEN US AND PARTIES, WE THINK THERE WERE ABOUT 60,000 ATTENDEES THIS PAST FESTIVAL.

IT WAS HEAVIER ON SATURDAY THAN SUNDAY.

HISTORICALLY THAT WAS PROBABLY SHORTER OF THE TOP LINE ATTENDANCE WE HAVE HAD IN THE PAST.

BUT WE WERE STILL COMING OUT OF COVID AND REINTRODUCING SOME OF THESE CONCEPTS.

WE TAKE THAT AS A MEASURE OF OPPORTUNITY TO GROW THIS INTO THE FUTURE.

WE HAD 57 FOOD VENDORS AND APPROXIMATELY 25, 28 OF THOSE WERE TAMALE VENDORS.

EVERYONE HAD A PARTICULARLY GOOD EXPERIENCE GOING INTO IT.

EVERYONE WAS GAME TO SOME NEW IDEAS ON HOW THEY ON BOARD AND POINTS OF SALE AND MAYBE NEW LOCATIONS, AND WE HAD A GOOD GIVE AND GO WITH THE FOOD VENDORS ON TRYING SOME NEW IDEAS.

AND WE ALL LEARNED FROM THAT COLLECTIVELY.

WE HAD OVER 45 PERFORMERS AND 27 WERE COACHELLA VALLEY LOCALS.

AT LEAST EIGHT OR 9 HAD PERFORMERS FROM THE CITY OF INDIO.

AND WE UTILIZED OVER 30 VENDORS HERE IN THE COACHELLA VALLEY.

HALF OF THE ENTIRE BUDGET OF THE EVENT.

DIRECTLY ON STAFF OF THE EVENT WE HAVE 18 RESIDENTS IN THE CITY OF INDIO AND THEY PLAYED ARTIST RELATIONS AND PRODUCTION AND HELPING MANAGE OUR GIANT BOUNCE HOUSE AND BEYOND.

WE ARE ACTUALLY REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THAT.

WE HOPE TO CONTINUE TO DEVELOP THE TALENT AND WORKING ON THE FESTIVAL IN THE FUTURE.

OUR TEAMS SPENT 5,000 HOURS PUTTING THE EVENT TOGETHER.

WE DO FEEL LIKE WE GOT A LOT DONE THIS YEAR THAT WILL CONTINUE TO GROW ON.

MAYBE IT WON'T COME AS HARD, BUT WE -- BUT WE HAVE SOME ASPIRATIONS.

WE HAVE EIGHT BRAND PARTNERS.

MOST IF NOT ALL OF THEM FROM HERE IN THE COACHELLA VALLEY OR HAVE A RETAIL PRESENCE.

NEW PARTNERS STEPPED UP TO THE PLATE IN A BIG WAY.

THEY HAVE A STORE ON JACKSON AND THEY ARE EAGER TO SHARE THAT WITH THE COMMUNITY.

WE HAVE GMC CHAVEZ AUTO AND LONG-TIME PARTNER FANTASY SPRINGS.

WE ARE PLEASED WITH EVERYONE'S INVOLVEMENT AND LOOKING FORWARD TO GROWING THAT.

BECAUSE WE DID CREATE A DECENT AMOUNT OF SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT AND HOPEFULLY PEOPLE WANTED TO SOCIALIZE, WE THINK WE GOT SOME PRETTY EFFECTIVE VOICE OUT THERE, A QUARTER MILLION ACCOUNTS FROM THE SOCIAL MEDIA.

FROM THE SITE MAP, YOU HAVE SEEN THIS AND LIVED THIS.

WE TRIED NEW THINGS AND PUSHING PROGRAMMING INTO GRASS AREAS AND PARKING LOTS AND SORT OF LIKE TRYING TO GET SOME CONGESTION OFF THE STREETS.

WE WERE HAPPY WITH HOW PEOPLE FLOWED THROUGH THE MERCADO AREA AND MADE THEIR WAY AROUND THE EXPERIENCE. WE LEARNED HARD LESSONS ON MAKING SURE ALL EXPERIENCES HAD GOOD ACCESSIBILITY FOR OUR SENIORS AND OUR ADA COMMUNITY AND THAT IS SOMETHING WE WILL WORK TO IMPROVE ON THE NEXT GO AROUND AS WE CONTINUE TO MAP THIS EXPERIENCE OUT.

PERFORMANCES, AGAIN, OUT OF ALL 45 PERFORMERS, EVERYBODY SHOWED UP TO THEIR CALL TIMES.

WE HAD A LOT OF GREAT BANDS AND MIXED THEM UP WITH THE TOURING BANDS.

WE HOPED THERE WAS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE.

FROM THE TIAS AND THE TIOS TO THE YOUNG KIDS WITH SOME INDY ROCK AND CUMBIA, I THINK THAT FORMULA WORKED FOR US.

AND PEOPLE LIKE BIG BANDS LIKE THE HORNS AND DIFFERENT SECTIONS.

MAYBE WE WILL PLAY ON THAT SOME MORE IN THE FUTURE.

SOME PHOTOS FROM THE FANTASY SPRINGS STAGE.

THE BIGGEST STAGE THE FESTIVAL HAS PROBABLY SEEN.

IT DEFINITELY CARRIED A PRESENCE IN SOME OF THE SHOWS WE WRAPPED UP.

WE HAD A PRETTY FULL AUDIENCE AND THAT WAS FUN WE HAD THE VIVA STAGE WHERE WE HAD THE YOUNGER BANDS AND PUNK BANDS.

THEY ADD FULL HOUSE ON SUNDAY AND EXCITED TO PROGRAM THAT.

THERE WAS A BEER GAR -- GARDEN AREA AND CONNECTED TO THE TAMALE PLAZA.

A FUN PLACE FOR FOOD AND DRINK.

TRYING TO MAXIMIZE THE GRASS AREAS AVAILABLE DOWNTOWN FOR PROGRAMMING, TAMALE PLAZA WAS A NEW CONCEPT AND THERE WAS LOTS OF AING TIFF TEE.

EVERYONE WAS EXCITED ABOUT IT.

EVEN VENDORS RELUCTANT TO BEING THERE PRIOR TO THE EVENT WERE SATISFIED ON THE WAY OUT.

WE HAVE IDEAS ON OPENING IT UP AND MAKING IT LESS CONGESTED, BUT WE ENJOYED THE CONCEPT AND THE AREA.

A BIG CHANGE ATTRACTION.

WE CREATED A CENTRAL BOX OFFICE WHERE YOU CAN GET A PASS AND TICKETS FOR ALL OF THE RIDES.

THAT WORKED WELL IN STREAM LINING THE EXPERIENCE.

SO FROM WORLD'S BIGGEST BOUNCE HOUSE TO ROLLERSKATING THAT WE GOT POSITIVE RESPONSES ON THE OUTDOOR ROLLERSKATING AND LOOKING TO BRING THAT BACK IN A BIGGER WAY.

EVEN LIKE CARNIVAL RIDES WHICH WE WOULD HOPE TO OPERATE IN A FEW NIGHTTIME HOURS TO FACILITATE THE DEMAND FOR THAT.

OVER THE COURSE OF THE MONTHS OF PUTTING TOGETHER THE SHOW WE WERE ABLE TO CREATE WEBSITES AND TEXT MESSAGE LISTS AND TRIED TO CREATE SOME CHANNELS OF COMMUNICATION.

IT WORKS GREAT TO KEEP PEOPLE INFORMED ABOUT TRAFFIC AND PARKING AND PROMOTIONS AND AN ASSET FOR OUR PARTNERS TO KEEP GROWING THE FESTIVAL.

WE THOUGHT IT WAS INTERESTING DESPITE GETTING THE LINEUP OUT IN MID-OCTOBER, REALLY THE TRAFFIC HIT AROUND THE THANKSGIVING BREAK.

THAT WOULD BE AN INTERESTING MILESTONE TO PLAN AROUND FOR NEXT YEAR.

THAT TELLS ME THAT THE COMMUNITY REALLY RESPONDED BACK TO GET INFORMATION HERE AND WE STILL HAVE MORE ROOM TO GROW ON PROMOTING THIS TO LOCAL MARKETS LIKE INLAND EMPIRE, AND LOS ANGELES AND SAN DIEGO.

LOOKING AT HOW MOBILE AND THE DEMAND WE GOT FROM THE TEXT MESSAGE LIST.

WE SAW GOOD ENGAGEMENT RATE WITH PEOPLE CLICKING THROUGH LINK AND PROMOTIONS.

THAT'S SOMETHING WE WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE FORWARD.

SOCIAL MEDIA WE GOT NEW CHANNELS UP AND WE WORKED CLOSELY WITH THE CITY ON OUR PRESENCE THERE. WE TRIED A TWITCH STREAM FOR THE FIRST TIME WHERE WE LIVE STREAMED THE PERFORMANCE FROM THE MAIN STAGE.

WE NOTICED ON OUR PROFILE IT WAS LARGELY WOMEN, BUT WE ARE GETTING YOUNGER DEMOGRAPHICS THERE AS WELL.

NOW WE KNOW THESE THINGS TO PROGRAM AND CURE RATE MOVING INTO THE FUTURE.

WE GOT GREAT RESPONSE ON SOCIAL MEDIA.

THAT WAS THE LAST SLIDE.

WE GOT A LOT OF ORGANIC VOICE BACK FROM THE COMMUNITY.

GENERALLY POSITIVE RESPONSES AND BIG SMILES.

WE GOT SOME FEEDBACK FROM THE COMMUNITY TO.

THEY WOULD LIKE THINGS LIKE HAND WASHING AND MORE SHADE AND SEATING.

ALL OF THOSE THINGS ARE NOTED AND HOPEFULLY WE WILL MAKE ROOM FOR.

WE HAD GREAT PRESENCE ACROSS THE LOCAL MEDIA A CHANNELS.

WITH THE HELP FROM THE CITY IN A BIG WAY AND MORE MARKETING ON THAT FRONT.

THIS IS US BEING COGNIZANT OF THE THINGS WE THOUGHT WE DID WELL AND THE PLAYSES WE THOUGHT WE COULD IMPROVE.

THERE IS A LOT THERE AND HONESTLY I THINK OF WHERE WE ARE RIGHT NOW IN THE CALENDAR YEAR AND HOW MUCH RUNWAY WE HAVE IN FRONT OF US.

THIS GROUP HERE, I WOULD LOVE TO EXPLORE OPPORTUNITIES TO GET FEEDBACK FROM THE COMMUNITY OR THE LOCAL GROUPS. THIS IS THE TIME TO GET CREATIVE AND SOLICIT MORE DIRECTION FROM THE COMMUNITY SO WE CAN PUT IT INTO PROGRAMMING.

WE WILL START TO ROLL OUT THE VENDOR PROGRAMS AND I'M ALL EARS. THEY ARE READY TO INTERFACE WITH THE COMMUNITY.

WE HAD SUCCESS WORKING WITH THE BUSINESS OWNERS AND PROGRAMMING THEM INTO THE EVENT.

WE HOPE WE CAN DEVELOP MORE OPERATIONAL HOURS INTO THE EVENT NEXT YEAR AND MAYBE CONSIDER DOING SOME NIGHTTIME HOURS AND ADDING SITE LIGHTING.

I WOULD LIKE TO PURSUE SOME THURSDAY AND FRIDAY NIGHT PROGRAMMING AS A BOOM TO THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY AND INCLUDE SOME THINGS LIKE CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING AND I THINK THERE IS SOMETHING SPECIAL BREWING FOR THIS YEAR.

I KNOW WE RAN INTO IT QUICKLY THE LAST TIME, BUT NOW WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR OUT WHAT EVERYONE WOULD LIKE TO SEE INTO THE FUTURE.

I KNOW SOCIAL MEDIA IS HIGHLY EFFECTIVE, BUT DO WE HAVE OTHER THOUGHTS ON HOW TO BRING SOME OTHER FOLKS? I DON'T WATCH TELEVISION MUCH, BUT I WILL BE AT MY AUNT'S HOUSE AND SEE COMMERCIALS FROM OTHER CITIES AND FESTIVALS.

>> TO ANSWER THE FIRST QUESTION, IT IS A BIT TRICKY ON TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE EXACT ATTENDANCE AND CAPACITY.

THE FORMAT IS PRETTY' TO THE COMMUNITY.

THEY AN ACCESS THE DOWNTOWN AREA FROM SIX POINTS.

I THINK IF MULTIPLE INTERESTS CONVERGE, YOU CAN CREATE A STRONGER PERIMETER TO THE EVENT.

AND MAYBE MAKE IT SAFER.

NOT THAT WE HAD ANY ISSUES, BUT USE THAT AS AN OPPORTUNITY.

THAT'S ONE IDEA, BUT A BIG LOGISTIC.

WE UNLOCKED THE GATES AND OPENED UP ALL OF THE CHAINS WE HAD ON SOME OF THE GATES.

ONE IS FIRST NIGHT WE OPENED UP THOSE GATES WE HAD A HOMELESS ENCAMPMENT GET INTO DAVIS FIELD NUMBER 3 AND CAMP ON THE INFIELD OF DAVIS FIELD 3.

WE DID CONTACT QUALITY OF LIFE IPD AND THEY CLEARED THEM OUT.

I AM GETTING WORD OF THE INDIO YOUTH SPORTS ASSOCIATION THAT OVERSEES THE BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL AT THE FIELDS, AND THEY DID -- I DID INFORM THEM THAT WE WILL BE OPENING UP THE PARK BEFORE WE DID, AND THEY WERE NOT HAPPY.

VERY VULGAR LANGUAGE AND SOME GANG SIGNS AS WELL IN THERE.

THE PARENTS TALKED TO THE IOSA BOARD AND MYSELF ABOUT THE VULGAR LANGUAGE IN THERE BEING EXPOSED TO THE 9-YEAR-OLDS AND THE 8-YEAR-OLDS AND 12-YEAR-OLDS THAT PLAY THERE.

THEY WERE NOT HAPPY AT ALL.

TWO DAYS AFTER THAT WE HAD OTHER DAMAGE THAT HAPPENED AT THE FIELD.

WE MADE THE DECISION THAT UNTIL WE CAN FIGURE OUT HOW WE ARE GOING TO MAKE THIS WORK, WE ACTUALLY PUT THE LOCKS BACK ON THE FIELD.

THE GENTLEMAN THAT WAS HERE FOR THE PUBLIC COMMENT ABOUT DAVIS FIELD, I CONTACTED HIM ABOUT THESE CLOSURES THAT WE HAD AND TOLD HIM ABOUT THE ISSUES WE HAD AT THE FIELD, AND HE UNDERSTOOD.

HE WAS NOT HAPPY WE CLOSED IT AGAIN, BUT HE SAID WE NEED TO WORK THINGS OUT AND FIGURE OUT A WAY. I WAS TOLD THAT I NEED TO MEET WITH HIM AND MAYBE SOME PEOPLE THAT HE KNOWS AND OUR QUALITY OF LIFE GUYS AND MYSELF AND PROBABLY SCOTT TRUJILLO AND WE WILL TRY TO COME UP WITH A PLAN.

HE SENT AN EMAIL ON SATURDAY ASKING ME AND SAYING THAT HE COULD NOT MEET THE FIRST COUPLE WEEKS AND HE HAD AN ISSUE WITH HIS FAMILY.

HE SENT AN EMAIL ON SATURDAY ASKING WHEN WE CAN MEET AND HE GAVE ME A COUPLE DATES.

I WAS UNABLE TO RESPOND WHEN I OPENED THE EMAIL.

I DID RESPOND TO HIM TODAY THAT WE WILL WORK ON SOME DAYS NEXT WEEK TO MEET.

I AM WAITING BACK TO REPLY ON WHEN WE CAN ALL MEET, BUT WE WILL MAKE THAT ATTEMPT.

I AM ANXIOUS TO HEAR HIS IDEAS ON HOW WE CAN MAKE THIS WORK AND WHO CAN MONITOR THAT WITHOUT SPENDING A LOT OF TAXPAYER MONEY.

THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE A CIRCUS AND A SHARK ENCOUNTER AND A CARNIVAL AND SHOWS, LOTS OF VENDORS AND LOTS OF GAMES.

WE ARE EXPECTING A PRETTY GOOD CROWD WILL BE THERE INCLUDING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THEY ARE TAKING CARE OF THE INSIGHT ON THAT.

WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT.

AND ON MONDAY FEBRUARY 21ST, NEXT MONDAY IT IS PRESIDENT'S DAY.

WE WILL BE HAVING A PARADE.

THE RIVERSIDE COUNTY IS PUTTING THAT PARADE ON SEPARATELY.

IT WILL START AT 9 A.M.

AND RUN THROUGH THE STREETS OF INDIO AS IT HAS IN THE PAST.

IT IS MILES AVENUE AVENUE TOWARD OASIS AND ACROSS 111.

I WANTED TO LET EVERYONE KNOW THAT THEY ARE NOT USING ALL OF THE GROUNDS.

THEY ARE NOT USING GATE 1.

THE ONLY ENTRANCE WILL BE GATE 6 WHICH IS OFF DR.

CARREON NEAR OASIS AND ARABIA.

THERE IS NO GATE ONE.

WHICH I WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW THAT THEY PARKED IN THE NORTH SIDE OF PARK ON THE STREETS AND THEN WALKED ACROSS THE TEMPORARY SIGNAL WE HAD AT WIENERSCHNITZEL.

IT WILL BE FENCED OFF AND NOT USED.

THE PARKING FOR THE EVENT IS THE SWAT MEET PARKING LOT SOUTH OF DR.

CARREON WHICH IS A LARGE LOT.

THAT IS MOST OF THE PARKING.

THEY WILL BE DOING PARKING ON SITE AS WELL.

YOU SAID THE FESTIVALS ARE MOVING FORWARD AND WE HAVE HAD, AS I SAID, MANY COMMUNITY MEETINGS AND MANY MORE TO GO.

WE USUALLY HAVE ABOUT 30 COMMUNITY MEETINGS WITH THE HOAS AND THE COMMUNITIES AROUND THE AREA. WE HAVE DONE A BUNCH OF THEM ALREADY AND WE HAVE A BUNCH TOMORROW AND A BUNCH ON THURSDAY AND ALREADY SCHEDULED FOR THE NEXT THREE OR FOUR WEEKS.

THE FESTIVAL AS YOU MENTIONED TODAY WAS -- THEY GOT APPROVAL FOR NO MASKS AND NO VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS AND NO TESTING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE FANS AT COACHELLA OR STAGECOACH. WE ARE TWO MONTHS AWAY FROM THAT.

THINGS COULD CHANGE AND THEY KNOW THAT AS WELL.

THEY ARE GOING TO CONTINUE WITH THEIR PLANS ON HAVING KIND OF A PLAN B, BUT THEY HAVE ALREADY DONE A LOT THINKING THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE TO DO TESTING AND VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS. THEY HAVE ALREADY STARTED THAT AND THEY WILL KEEP GOING A LITTLE BIT WITH THAT, BUT AS OF RIGHT NOW IT IS -- AS YOU READ IN THE PAPER AND ON THE NEWS THAT NO MASKS WILL BE REQUIRED AND NO VACCINATIONS OR TESTING AT COACHELLA AND STAGECOACH.
